WWII monument from the air. The DigitalGlobe
mapping company has released detailed images of the new World War II monument and the Normandy beaches as part of a Memorial Day tribute.
The full aerial view of the monument also clearly shows the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Vietnam Memorial, and other well-known features of the great public space there in Washington.
The image I've included here is a detail limited to the new monument, but does not show the greatest resolution available at the company's site (once there, you'll have to click on the expander in the image's lower right corner).
In Normandy you can just make out the dozens of long rows of tombstones in the memorial cemetery, I believe, once you expand the image. Photo credit: DigitalGlobe. [0 & P]
